clip_image001[4]On one of my favorite endlessly fascinating stops in NYC – Fishs Eddy ~ here are a few pics from the last time i was there! Warning: While much of what is available in store is online, SO much more is in store! From random overstocks, vintage plates/etc they find, crazy sales… there’s lots of goodies in store that are different each time i pop in. And always so much temptation! Last time i was there, they mentioned that you don’t have to worry about trying to pack it all home too, you can pick whatever you want in store and they are all set up to pack it up and ship it home for you… will definitely have to stop by again when i’m in NY this week! See more pics on the next page…

p.s. those crazy “glove molds” are available online, but how stunning is the display?!?!

What the Visual Music Device tries to do is extract useful song information, like rhythm, tempo and beats and converts it to fascinating visual representations, in a bid to soothe and relax you. More for a meditative mind or those into yoga or something! The visual aid features drops of water (kinda like the lava lamp) that float up and down the tank in sync with the music being played on hand. Wonder if it will have a hypnotic effect as well!

clip_image001Tonight I saw a very nice presentation on the work of rAndom international, a London-based art and design collective, hosted by designtransfer of the UDK Berlin. One of the project that Hannes Koch presented was “Study For A Mirror” which is actually the next generation of their other piece called “A Study Of Three Mirrors“.

‘Study For A Mirror’ is a ‘temporary light painting’. Face recognition technology detects when the viewer is standing in front of the work and then directly paints the onlookers image in light. The Image then gradually fades. Evectively a mirror this work offers the ultimate immediate, yet ephemeral, contemporary portrait.

Chris O’Shea wrote the software with openFrameworks & openCV.

Designed by Paul Cohen

Winner 2006 Interior Design Magazine’s
Best of Year “Roscoes” Award, New York, USA

In keeping with its name, the EcoSmart Vision fireplace offers a ‘see-through’ effect via its double opening, maximising the free flow of space and sense of area without impairing the integrity of a room.

Rectangular in shape, the Vision is a freestanding, double sided fireplace with clean modern lines. Its clever design features a toughened glass back, adding extra durability.

With the EcoSmart Vision Fireplace, you have the ultimate flexibility to position the fire anywhere to suit your living environment.

Designed to accept the EcoSmart ethanol burner, the Vision fireplace also comes with a Wind Screen Static. The Vision has been designed to meet the most exacting contemporary interior styling requirements for apartments, houses, bars and restaurants.

Like other models in the Designer Range, the Vision is a fully portable work of art – a freestanding fireplace fuelled by denatured ethanol, an environmentally friendly, renewable biofuel.

If you like the style of the Vision, but need a more compact model, then the EcoSmart Fusion is an ideal solution.
