clip_image001“Flying Green’ collection by Italian Studio Klass consists on a set of ceramic vases for fresh spices. Each vase has a unique shape inspired by the different kinds of roots and botanical of spices. Their metallic hooks make it possible to hang them on walls with a kitchen’s steel bar. Designed in collaboration with Laboratorio Pesaro. These are so beautiful, i was smitten with the concept and photography when i first spotted them on Design Milk! Take a peek at far more close up pics and various colors on the next page!

This is a creative set of painted porcelain vases and tablewares which have blurred the line between decoration and function. Obviously, Ruth Gurvich has drawn an inspiration from the Chinese Landscape Paintings, revealing the tablewares’  functions from a decorative perspective. Besides, the designer also endows these daily necessities with creases, folds and tautness characteristics of paper, giving them a distinctive appearance.

Venice is host to some of the most spectacular glass factories in the world. A place where exquisite mouth-blown pieces are created every single day. I found new respect for this industry when I visited one such factory and saw how they artistically breathe life and form into a blob of molten glass. Featured here is the Barbara Carafe Vase, a beautiful mouth-blown piece with modern sensibilities. A colored crystal ball doubles as a seal and a tactile magic ball to the carafe.

The crystal ball deliberately features a cut (grind-ed) surface, which stops it from rolling-off. If you choose to use this piece as a vase, then place the crystal ball under the carafe in its little cubby – just a nice splash of color.

I like these vases. They are an exploration of the latest laser sintering technology and illicit childhood memories of spinning tops. Each of the 5 vases is a snapshot of a top from the point of spin to a wobbling stand still. I love the design and what it stands for. They’re currently on exhibition at the London Design Festival but I’m crossing my fingers that these will go into production.
The sizes of the vases are 96 x 96 x 90 mm, 123 x 123 x 91 mm, 130 x 130 x90 mm, 96 x 96 x 88 mm and 192 x 129 x 90 mm (l x w x h)
