London based designer Tim Fishlock has created the What Watt? chandelier.

Tim says:

What Watt? is a memorial to and a celebration of the humble incandescent lightbulb. It’s a spherical chandelier, 1010mm in diameter made up of 1243 suspended bulbs of various shape and size, illuminated by a single low-energy light source. By 2011, all forms of incandescent light bulb will have been phased out in favour of greener alternatives. What Watt? marks the passing of a beautiful design that has remained relatively unchanged since its invention 130 years ago.

Designed and fabricated for a private commission. I will be producing an edition of ten.

You can watch a time-lapse video of the construction – here.

The Wavelight concept coverts mechanical energy captured by ocean waves into electrical energy to illuminate a series of LED lamps. Each lamp is tethered to its neighbor with a weight anchored to the sea floor. The lights are designed to attract attention for rescue operations or to warn passing ships to steer clear. A very intriguing design but are LEDs powerful enough? What happens if the anchor isn’t long enough to reach the sea floor?

The rotating lids act as a mechanical dimmer to control the light intensity. Jar desk lamps are made from lathed oak, stained natural or black. Available in two sizes: 125 mm and 250 mm tall (280 mm diameter).

You think table lamps are too boring? You won’t think so after checking out the Bop Lamp. Apparently, Baita Bueno has drawn an inspiration from the classic toy ‘Bop Bags’ and endows the lamp with a similar shape. The most interesting part is the design of concrete ballast on the bottom enabling one to set the lamp into motions while using it as a light. It is made from injection molded ABS thermoplastic.
