“To the children in The Third World; Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, Congo and etc, who can’t enjoy football freely because of poverty, war and natural disaster, having a football means a lot and can be a dream and hope to escape from their poor life.

However, the children are so poor that they can not buy a football. So, they play football with the ball made of plastic bag or coconut palm leaves, therefore giving them their own footballs which can give them hope. This is our aim for this project.

We suggest this Dream Ball made of relief boxes delivered to those poor children by recycling.

A. Create patterns that can help making a ball on the surface of an aid box.
B. Activities of giving aid boxes to children in The Third World.
C. The used aid boxes will be recycled as a football by children with the patterns on boxes.
D. By making Dream Ball with the children together, the aid organizations will get the chance to be friendly with them.”

“If children take off the paper from an aid box by following the patterns on it, and assemble those parts with the attached instruction, they can get a football. We can apply those patterns on any type of boxes – a square type, a cylinder type. Now,when children get a cyliner type aid box filled with supplies, they can move it by rolling that box.”

“In the aspect of material, we considered children playing football with bare foot. So,we use paper that can be recycled and its thickness changes the intensity and elasticity of the Dream Ball.”

clip_image001Rewave is essentially a design using Reverse Osmosis for desalinating the sea water. More for private consumption in coastal regions where fresh water is scarce or at-sea disaster situations, the Rewave is quite self-sufficient. It floats in water and harnesses the energy from the waves to power itself. Since a great amount of pressure is required for RO, the aperture has been placed at the bottom of body, allowing the seawater to get through to the motor area. After desalinating, the fresh water accumulates at the top and comes out via a pipe.
The only caution needed to be taken with Rewave is that the filters get worn out and need to be changed frequently. When the filters discolor, you know it’s time to change them! Bright side, the filters are made from recycled materials.

clip_image001There are two things make the NNew Can stand out; one it has a deliberate spiral shape and two its opening-clip has an uplifted indent. The reason for the spiral shape is obvious, it makes it easier for you to twist and crush the can with hand and dump it into the trashcan. And the reason for the indent in the clip is so that you can open the can easily withoaut chipping a naail. I endorse the second reason wholeheartedly coz I always manage to clip mine while opening my soda-can!

clip_image001The Stump series of furniture are all made of reclaimed wood that might otherwise be tossed out. The object was to create a sustainable business and create designs that were engaging while hiding their recycled nature. The price point is excellent too at just under $200 for most pieces. Normal carpentry facilities would cost too much to mass produce the series. Instead, work programs for rehabs and disabled people made production possible while providing employment for a large group of marginalized people. I love it!

The concept of Blinds doubling up as Solar Powered Window Air Conditioner is not new, but there is something that makes Briz tad different. Briz uses water as a coolant; water runs through both tubes beneath the bottom part of the blinds emitting dry mist. As water evaporates, it absorbs the heat thus naturally cooling the atmosphere. BTW Solar Power and other concept gimmicks still prevail.
