United Kingdom designer Chris Duff reminds us of our potential future, the one where the entire world is run by several parent corporations, most of them once small, direct idea-drivin groups, now just a name. Or is that the present? This project presents a future in which the sneaker brand Adidas will produce automotive vehicles. This project is called “Adidas Mobility” and gives us the first roller, a lightweight adaptable vehicle to epitomize the former shoe brand, current world brand.

It’s all about class. Adidas already has class. They also went to class, got so smart, then applied the intelligence to their shoes. They’ve developed many different sport-changing technologies for their footwear over the years, mixing and matching these technologies in their shoes for each different purpose they’re employed on. The same is true with this vehicle. Inspiration and education from each of Adidas’s future exploits all merge here inside this perfectly sporty auto.

A fabulous example of this technological magic is the wheel. Look at that thing down there in the gallery. It looks like a soccer (football) ball! I bet it rolls so hard and fast and fabulous that it takes the entire world by storm when they first deploy it.

This is my favorite kind of conceptual work. THe kind that, in what I’d call a sort of pop-art fashion, takes what’s already sort of there, then takes it to an entirely different place.

Same ingredients, different mix.

Excellence.

What would the personal vehicle look like in the future? Nobody could give us an exact answer but we could get a preview with Sergio Luna’s ‘2028 One’ car. Coming from the Michelin Challenge Design 2010, ‘2028 One’ is a single-seater for inter-city transportation. Based on the Segway mechanism, the lightweight vehicle is compact enough for an easy driving. Though it adopts a joystick, the car could also be entirely controlled by a computer.

The brainchild of Brazilian designer Maurício Sampaio, the “Sampdesign Neo” is an electric vehicle for urban use that offers a safe and sustainable ride on cramped city roads. Powered by three engines embedded in each wheel, the three-wheeler features an exterior surround by LED lighting, which makes it extremely safe during night rides. The zero-emission vehicle comes equipped with buffers that generate energy, smart rubber that totally isolates the cabin from the outer world and an air conditioner, which allows occupants to choose the internal temperature. The entire body, including the translucent, of the Neo uses biodegradable plastic that makes it environmentally friendly altogether.
The small size of the vehicle helps to solve the problem of traffic chaos in large cities. Commuters can access the vehicle through a single door that opens from the front. Capable of reaching a top speed of 90 km/h, the Sampdesign Neo has the maximum range of 300 km per charge, thanks to the lithium-ion battery. With the Neo, commuting on city roads won’t be chaotic anymore.

Peugeot ELA is a concept car for the future. It’s green, mean and a blazing glory of fireball orange! Lemme explain, the vehicle is a hybrid of electro magnet and solar energy and runs on a thin surface of air. It’s not the first time that a designer has predicted that the future road surfaces will conform to the electro magnet tech used in trains. Anyways, the solar cells on the roof of the car provide the extra zing. I love the flashy bright color of this two-seater, do you?

Displayed at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Twizy Z.E. is a compact city car from Renault to make your way through cramped urban roads. An electric alternative to the scooter, the Twizy just measures 7.5 feet in length, 3.7 feet in width and has a compact turning circle of just 3.0m that takes very little space for parking. Generating the power from a 20 horsepower (15kW) electric motor, supported by lithium-ion batteries, the Twizy can cover 100 miles on a single charge with a top speed of 47mph. Integrating displays at the base of the windscreen for easy navigation and safe driving, the zero emission vehicle presents a tandem seating layout, with backseat attached to the roof, allowing flexibility and comfort to the commuters. Check out the video after the jump.
