clip_image001On random packaging obsessions ~ stumbled across these special italian Lurisia Water Glass Bottles while at an ICFF event in NY and was mesmerized! Apparently redesigned back in 2008 ~ “This project combined forces of the creative design agency Sottsass Associati, the experts in industrial design from Fratelli Guzziniand, finally, Saint-Gobain Glass, the world leader in glass manufacturing,” says PopSop. And it won a beverage innovation award in 2009! How have i never seen these before?!?! Apparently their water is supposed to have quite a cult following? And they have spa’s in italy as well… And as cool as these lighthouse lantern like bottles are… the vintage logo of the lighthouse keeper is adorable as well! Take a peek at more images on the next page!

Check out this novel yet totally functional salt, pepper, oil and vinegar set called Earl. Inspired by the iconic Erlenmeyer chemistry flask, Earl brings a scientific element to sophisticated dining. I had a chem teacher in high school that would have flipped over this.

Cerveceria Hacienda is a new boutique brewery operating out of a converted Hacienda in the countryside outside of Pachuca Mexico. Check out the new brand below.

"Three new beers were developed to launch the brewery, Hidalgo Stout, Catrina Red Ale and Jaguar Pale Ale.

Cerveceria Hacienda needed labels to reflect the cultural uniqueness of Mexico while expressing the individuality of the beers and the brewery.

This was achieved through lovingly crafted illustration and design by Andrew Rose."

The Brand Union in collaboration with Spike Lee, came up with the design for Absolut’s Brooklyn edition. The newest addition in Absolut vodka’s city series. Check out the newest incarnation below.

"The Brand Union was challenged to develop a uniquely inspiring story through the eyes of Spike Lee and his vision of Brooklyn bringing the bottle design to life. The result is a 1-liter Absolut bottle that features a brownstone with the number from Spike Lee’s childhood home in Cobble Hill, 165, on the building’s front door.
The concept was developed choosing ‘stoop life’ as a theme to tell the story of Brooklyn. The stoop is a place where the community comes together, where life happens. Somewhere that everyone holds a memory from moments in their lives. This connection enables the consumer to feel a sense of comfort from the bottle design and truly resonates with all New Yorkers.
The vodka is flavored with notes of ripened fresh red apple as an homage to the Big Apple and is carefully blended with a hint of ginger to represent the flair and spice that Brooklyn infuses into New York City.
Every city that Absolut brings to life is inspired by the collective viewpoint of locals and what the city means to them, why it’s unique, and why they love it and The Brand Union has successfully achieved this with the Brooklyn bottle design."

"The New York marketplace breeds it own type of shoppers. And retailer Duane Reade knows exactly who they are, what they need, and how they like to shop. With more than 250 locations in New York and its surrounding boroughs, and a dominant market share, Duane Reade sought to further develop its position and product offering specifically for this shopper and wrapped in a New York iconic style.

CBX, a strategic branding company, was charged with developing the private label expression of Duane Reade’s new brand strategy. According to Todd Maute, Managing Partner, CBX, “Our mission was to broaden Duane Reade’s private brand product appeal, enhancing its position as the preferred store for New Yorkers and further bringing to life the brand’s new positioning ‘New York Living Made Easy.’

“We brought in a New York agency that is expert with private brand image and packaging design, and understands the quintessential New York shopper. CBX helped us communicate and connect with New Yorkers through a unique product voice,” says Joe Magnacca, Chief Merchandising Officer, Duane Reade, Inc.

To build upon Duane Reade’s new image, CBX collaborated with the retailer on multiple fronts to help strengthen their relationship with customers.  First CBX provided input into Duane Reade’s private brand architecture, and designed its private label brand imagery and packaging systems.  Then they helped revamp the loyalty card brand image and collateral material.  To further establish direct communication with Duane Reade’s customer, CBX designed an edgy New York publication called the Duane Reader to help market and support all of their branding and product development efforts.

The private label brand portfolio was completely revamped along with the product mix to draw consumers into the store as well as enhance their ‘uniquely New York’ and value messages. Multiple brands across 2,000 SKUs were developed."
